McHugh Signs with Vandal Hoops

MOSCOW, Idaho – Idaho men's basketball has announced the addition of Kendall McHugh who will join the Vandals' squad for the 2020-2021 season.

"We are very excited to add Kendall to our program.  He is a first-class young man that has excelled both in the classroom as well as on the court during his time with Coach Reinert," said head coach Zac Claus. "We believe that he can have an immediate impact with the ball in his hands while adding a level of competitive toughness to our team."

McHugh, a 6-0 guard, spent the past year at the College of Southern Idaho. He averaged 10.6 points per game and 2.6 assists per game as a freshman. He started 29 games and added 3.0 rebounds per game while shooting 38 percent from beyond the arc. He was named to the Region 18 Second Team.

McHugh went to Santa Margarita High School in California, where he played for Coach Jeff Reinert, who also coached him as a Golden Eagle.

"Kendall has worked his tail off for the last two years I have coached him," said Coach Reinert. "He played against the best and performed at an elite level which propelled him to earn Second Team All-Region 18 honors. Kendall is a point guard that does everything well, but his ability to hit threes really separates him from other point guards."

He is the son of Gina Miles and Tomas McHugh.

McHugh joins Ethan Kilgore and Tanner Christensen in the 2020 class. Christensen previously signed with Idaho before departing for his LDS mission following high school in 2018, while Kilgore signed in November.
