Big Sky Release
FARMINGTON, Utah – The Big Sky Conference announced the results of the Preseason Poll today. The Vandal women were selected to finish fourth, while the men were picked fifth.
Northern Arizona was picked to win the conference on both the men's and women's sides, with both teams garnering all 11 first place votes and 121 points. For the women, Southern Utah (100) and Weber State (96) were selected second and third, respectively, just in front of Idaho (90).
Meanwhile, the Weber State (106) men were selected second, while Montana State (97), and Southern Utah (94), were picked to finish just ahead of the Vandals (74), who round out the top five.
Both Vandal squads were picked fifth last year, with the women finishing second at the Big Sky Championship, and the men taking fifth.
The women return three of the five scorers from the conference meet last season, including
Kelsey Swenson, who was the top finisher in the race, and would go on to win Freshman of the Year during the Indoor Track and Field season. On the men's side, four of the five scorers from the Big Sky Championship will be back in silver and gold in 2020.
The cross country season will get underway on September 1, as the Vandals travel to Cheney, Washington, to compete at the Clash of the Inland Northwest. The Big Sky Championships is scheduled for October 31 in Portland, Oregon.
