MOSCOW, Idaho – The University of Idaho Track and Field program is excited to announce the signing of Deborah Adekayode of Winnipeg Optimist Athletics and Vincent Massey Collegiate High School in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
Deborah won three events in 2019 at the Manitoba Provincial Championships in the 100m, 200m, and long jump. She has extensive experience and has had a vast amount of success at the national level in the long jump. Deborah placed third at the National Youth Track and Field Championships in the long jump in 2017 and 2018. She placed second in 2019. There was no National Youth Track and Field Championships in 2020 due to covid-19.
In 2019, Deborah was one of the youngest competitors at the Western Canada Summer Games, where she earned a silver medal in the long jump and her 4x100m relay team placed third. She has personal bests of 5.68m (18' 7 3/4") in the long jump, 7.86 in the 60m, 12.29 (wind-aided) in the 100m, and 25.88 in the 200m.
Deborah is also an excellent student having been an Honors student every year in her time at Vincent Massey Collegiate.
