Vandals Continue Conference Play against Northern Colorado, Eastern Washington

 MOSCOW, Idaho – The Vandals head to Greeley, Colo. for a midweek matchup against Northern Colorado (13-4, 5-1 BSC) before finishing out their week at home against Eastern Washington (6-8, 2-4 BSC). Idaho's matchup against the Bears gets underway Tuesday at 5 p.m. while a meeting with the Eagles on Thursday starts at 6 p.m.

The Vandals return to the court after dropping both matches in three sets against Montana and Montana State.

Series Record

Idaho currently holds a 7-10 record against Northern Colorado and looks to rebound after falling to the Bears three times last spring, which included in the Big Sky Tournament.

The Vandals will meet the Eagles for the 87th time come Thursday, with Idaho holding a 54-32 record over Eastern dating back to 1976. Idaho has won eight of the last nine matchups between the two programs while most recently splitting the season series this past spring.

Scouting The Opposition

The Bears enter Tuesday's matchup second in the Big Sky Conference standings, winning six of its last seven matches. During non-conference action, Northern Colorado earned marquee wins over Northwestern, Colorado State, and San Jose State.

Four-time Big Sky Coach of the Year Lyndsey Oates has the Bears competing at a high level after finishing runner up in the Big Sky Tournament a season ago. As a team, Northern Colorado tops the rankings in the conference in hitting percentage (.220). Junior Rachel Hickman and sophomore Lauren Strain have led the attack for the Bears, both ranking in the top-10 in hitting percentage. Hickman ranks seventh (0.286) while Strain is listed at eighth best (0.275) in the Big Sky. 

Eastern Washington returns to the court after splitting with Montana State and Montana this past week. The Eagles fell to the Bobcats in four sets before picking up their four straight win over Montana.

Standout junior Ashlyn Blotzer leads the attack for the Eagles, holding the top spot in the conference in hitting percentage at .359. 

Up Next - The Vandals will travel to Ogden, Utah to face Weber State on Thursday, Oct. 21 at 5 p.m. before rounding out the week in Pocatello, Idaho against in-state rival Idaho State on Saturday, Oct. 23 at 12 p.m.
