LEWISTON, Idaho --Â Idaho cross country rounded out regular season action at the Inland Northwest Championships in Lewiston on Saturday morning. The women maintained a dominant performance throughout the race to go on to take the team title with 19 points. The men earned a second place finish with 42 points.
Six of the first eight women to cross the finish line represented the Vandals. Junior Kelsey Swenson led the way for Idaho, taking the individual title with a time of 17:08. Katja Pattis followed just behind to earn second with a time of 17:09. Leah Holmgren and Nell Baker came in fourth (17:28) and fifth (17:34), respectively, to round out the top-five.
Jolene Whiteley placed seventh with a final time of 17:41 and Maya Kobylanski would follow in eighth place with a time of 17:46.
Idaho men's cross country team were dominate as well throughout Saturday mornings race with the Vandals taking three of the top-5 spots.
Junior Tim Stevens claimed the individual title with a finishing time of 24:19, maintaining a pace of 4:54 throughout. Shea Mattson and Lorenz Herrmann secured third and fourth place for the Vandals. Mattson crossed the finish line at 24:25 while Herrmann clocked in at 24:30.
Gonzaga edged out Idaho to take home the team title after finishing with 35 points.
The Vandals will take a week off before gearing up for the Big Sky Cross Country Championships in Portland, Oregon on October 29.Â
