POCATELLO, Idaho – Idaho dominated throughout to take down rival Idaho State in straight sets (25-19, 25-16, 25-15) on Saturday afternoon in Reed Gym.
It was an all-around effort from the Vandals on the offensive end, as Delaney Nicoll led with 10 kills while Allison Munday, Nikki Ball, and Rachel Davis added seven kills each. Idaho was more successful at the net, forcing the Bengals to hit .061 with 18 attack errors.
The Vandals and Idaho State traded points for most of set one as the two teams were tied at 16-16 before the Vandals supplied a 9-3 run to put away Idaho State in the opening set, 25-19.
A hot start from Idaho pursued in set two, taking a commanding 11-5 lead backed by six kills and two service aces from the offense. The Vandals would maintain a lead for the remainder of the set to go up 2-0 after a 25-16 victory.
The third set was highlighted by an incredible .478 hitting percentage from Idaho. The offensive display helped build a comfortable 18-10 lead over the Bengals with no signs of slowing down. A 7-4 run would secure the victory for Idaho, 25-15.
The Vandals were efficient on the attack from the first serve to match point, as they hit a season-high .257 in the victory.
Idaho gets back in the win column, improving their record to 4-15 (1-9 BSC) while the Bengals move to 6-16 (2-8 BSC).
