Costa Rican National Record Holder Signs with Idaho Track and Field

MOSCOW, Idaho - The University of Idaho Track & Field/Cross Country program is thrilled to announce the signing of Amanda Muñoz from Arteka San Ramon, Costa Rica. Amanda is a highly accomplished triple jumper and will bring that experience to the Vandal program.

The 2021 season was filled with highlights for the future Vandal. In May, Amanda set the Costa Rican national record in the triple jump with a mark of 12.03 meters (39'5.62"). She set this record and new personal best at the Costa Rican Championships, in the National Stadium of Costa Rica located in San José. She returned to San José the following month to compete at the Central American Championships where she won the silver medal with a jump of 11.93 meters (39'1.68").

Amanda continued competing at the national level in July at the North American, Central, American, and Caribbean Athletic Association (NACAC) U23 championships, in the under-18 division, where she took the bronze medal with a jump of 11.7 meters (38'4.63") Amanda has also competed in the long jump with a personal best of 5.41 meters (17'8.98") and in the 100 meters in which she has run 12.60 seconds.
