AUSTIN, Texas - No. 11 Texas (7-1) overpowered Idaho (1-7, 0-1) 83-43 Saturday afternoon at the Frank Erwin Center.
The Vandals got the start they need to try and stay with the high powered Longhorns. Shooting 54.5 percent in the opening quarter and leading 12-7 at the first media timeout. However, Idaho couldn't match that fast pace for the rest of the game as they were just 11 of 44 from the field for the final 30 minutes.
Texas shot 45.3 percent from the floor, pounding the ball inside scoring almost half of their points in the paint.
With the long ball not falling for the Vandals, 6-28 from distance, Idaho tried looking inside, but only could muster 18 points in the paint, and had five shots blocked as the Vandals finished the game shooting just 30.9 percent (17-55).
Texas won the battle of the glass out rebounding Idaho by 10.
DeYona Gaston led the Longhorns with 19 points on 9 of 12 shooting. Latasha Lattimore had a 12 points 10 rebound, double-double.
The Vandals will head to Hawaii to play in the Maui Wahine Classic next weekend. Idaho will face #23 Oregon State on Dec. 17 and Northern Iowa on Dec. 18. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m pacific both nights.

- The starting five accounted for all but three points for the Vandals as the Idaho bench went just 1 of 6 shooting.
- The Longhorns forced 32 Vandal turnovers.
- Idaho averaged nearly 10 made three-point field goals a game. but could only connect on six today
