Dutch Sprinter Added to Vandal Track and Field

MOSCOW, Idaho - The University of Idaho Track & Field/Cross Country program is pleased to announce the addition of Mika Brouwer to the track and field program. Mika comes to the university from Anna Paulowna in the Netherlands and has been a fantastic addition to the team.

Mika competed for the athletics club Dokev until last year when he joined the athletics club Hera where he thrived under coach Rudy Bouwer. Throughout the past summer Mika competed in the Netherlands and set new personal bests in the 100 meters and 200 meters at 10.74 seconds and 21.68 seconds respectively. His 200 meter best came at the Dutch National championships in June where he advanced out of the heats and into the semifinal round. Mika was also a member of the Dutch U20 4x100 meter relay team that competed at the European Championships in Tallin, Estonia this past July.

Mika has already shown tremendous potential since coming to Idaho and continues to improve each week. He will provide depth and experience in the sprints and relays for the Vandals.

"We are excited to add Mika to the Vandal family. He gets it done not only in the classroom but also on the track and I am excited to see him compete this year." -Tim Cawley, Director of Track & Field/Cross Country
