Volleyball Heads to Sacramento for Weekend Series

SACRAMENTO, Calif. —
Idaho volleyball continues Big Sky play on the road this week at Sacramento State.
 
The Vandals and Hornets will first face off in the Nest on Saturday, Feb. 13 at 6 p.m. followed by game two on Sunday at 6 p.m.
 
This weekend's road series is the second Big Sky road series for the Vandals this season as they sit in third place in the conference standings with a 3-1 record. The Vandals are 4-2 overall on the season.
 
The Vandals are coming off a split series at Idaho State. The Vandals fell short to the Bengals, 3-2 on Saturday before winning 3-2 on Sunday.
 
Sacramento State is 3-3 on the season overall and in Big Sky play. the Hornets are 2-0 at home and are coming off back-to-back road losses at Northern Colorado.
 
SERIES HISTORY/LAST MEETING: Idaho and Idaho State played each other twice in 2019. The Vandals won the first meeting at home on September 28, 3-2 and the Hornets took game two of the season, 3-2, on Halloween in Sacramento. Idaho holds a 6-5 advantage in the all-time series.
 
AT THE NET:
Idaho has had success at the net throughout the season. The Vandals lead the Big Sky in total blocks with 78.5 and in blocks per set with 2.91. Th Vandals have totaled 131 block assists on the season, 51 more than any other team in the Big Sky. The Vandals are third in solo blocks with three. Nikki ball leads the Vandals and the Big Sky at the net with 36 total blocks and 31 block assists. She is second in solo blocks with five.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Kennedy Warren was named the Big Sky Player of the Week for the first time this season after a huge opening weekend at home on Jan. 31/Feb. 1. Warren tied her career-high with 25 kills in the first game while hitting .304 and recording 14 digs. In game two she totaled 16 kills and a career-high three service aces.
 
RETURNING TO THE ROAD:
After playing their first home games in 443 days and playing two on the road last week, the Vandals return to the road this week for a series against Sacramento State.
 
IN THE SECOND: On the season the Vandals are 5-1 in the second set, only dropping the set to Idaho State.
 
LEADING THE WAY: Kennedy Warren leads the Vandals and is tied for the league lead with 99 kills.
 
DEFENSE WINS: The Vandals have excelled defensively throughout the season so far. Idaho is second in the league in opponent hitting percentage. Opponents are hitting just .163 against the Vandals this year.
 
AT THE TOP: To begin the season, Idaho sits at third place in the Big Sky just behind Weber State and Northern Colorado
