POCATELLO, Idaho. – The Idaho (0-17, 0-14 BSC) men's basketball team fell in overtime, 64-58, to Idaho State (11-7, 7-3 BSC) on Saturday afternoon.
THE GAME
The Vandals held a three-point lead with 11 seconds to play, but Daxton Carr hit a deep, contested three to tie up the game and send it to overtime. The Bengals pulled away in the extra period, earning the victory.

The Vandals scored their first points of the day over four minutes into the game, but their defense stymied the Bengals, and the home team led, 6-2, with 15:48 to play. A slow and determined Idaho squad entered a defensive battle with ISU, and the Bengals led by one, 28-27, at halftime.

Gabe Quinnett scored the first five points of the second half for the Vandals, tying things up, 32-32, with just over 16 minutes to play. The score was tied again, 36-36, with 12:01 to play when
Hunter-Jack Madden hit a three-pointer to put the Vandals on top and spurring an 8-0 run. With just over seven minutes remaining, Idaho led, 46-38, but the Bengals scored the next six points to draw within two with five minutes left in the game. A steal and fast break layup by Robert Fort III gave the home side a one-point lead, but
Gabe Quinnett made four straight free throws to give the Vandals their three-point lead with 11 seconds remaining.

Overtime was all Bengals, with Idaho State scoring the first eight points, and outscoring the Vandals, 10-4, in the five-minute period. Â

THE NOTES
Gabe Quinnett scored 14 points to lead the Vandals. He also had three rebounds and a steal in 40 minutes played. He has scored in double figures in five of the last six games.

Scott Blakney chipped in 12 points, reaching double figures for the ninth time this year.

The Vandals were outrebounded, 34-28.
Tanner Christensen pulled down a career-high eight boards including five offensive rebounds.

All eight Vandals who saw action on Saturday scored.

Idaho shot 38.0 percent (19-for-50) from the floor, while ISU was 20-for-44 (45.5 percent).

The Vandals were 7-for-14 (50.0 percent) from beyond the arc, while the Bengals were 8-for-17 (47.1 percent).

The Vandals were 13-for-21 (61.9 percent) from the line. The Bengals were 16-for-23 (69.6 percent) from the free throw line.

Idaho outscored ISU, 22-20, in points in the paint. This follows a Thursday matchup in which the Bengals held a 34-18 advantage in the category.

There were six ties and eight lead changes in the game, and each team held a lead of eight points in the game.

THE NAME
Hunter-Jack Madden. Madden scored 10 points for the Vandals, making two three-pointers. He chipped in two rebounds, three assists, and one steal while playing a team-high 41 minutes.
