Box Score MOSCOW, Idaho – Idaho came up short against Northern Colorado in their final game of the regular season on Monday. The Vandals took the first set 25-22 before falling in the next three sets. The Vandals held a lead late in the fourth set but fell just short 25-23 and 3-1 in the match.
Delaney Nicoll led the Vandals with 15 kills. Kennedy warren had 11 kills and hit .290 in the match while
Bea Whitling hit .421 with nine kills.
Alaina Lacey led the squad with 18 digs.
Avery Housley had a team-high two service aces.
Neither side was able to build a lead more than two points to start the contest. Tied 10-10-, the Bears used a 4-1 run to lead 14-11. A 6-0 run gave the Vandals a 16-14 lead following a
Delaney Nicoll kill. The Bears regained the lead 20-18, but a 4-0 run gave Idaho a 22-20 advantage.
Allison Munday put the Vandals up 24-21 with a kill. A kill from Donnee Janzen closed out the set win, 25-23.
Much like the first set, neither side could establish a lead to begin the second until the Bears took a 12-8 lead. Idaho would trail the rest of the way, falling 25-19 in the second.
Northern Colorado jumped out to a 6-3 lead to start the third set. The Vandals fought back, tying the Bears 12-12 after a Munday kill. Northern Colorado took control the rest of the way, winning the third set 25-19.
Northern Colorado once again let early, leading 5-3 in the fourth. Idaho fought back, taking a 14-9 lead after a Bears' bad set.
Alaina Lacey extended the lead to six, 17-11, following a service ace. Northern Colorado erased the deficit and tied the Vandals 23-23 before going on to win 25-23.
Idaho recorded 20 block assists in the match led by six from Warren.
The Vandals finish the regular season 6-10 and 5-9 in the Big Sky. Idaho will be the No.7 seed in the Big Sky tournament and will face Northern Colorado in the quarterfinals.
