FARMINGTON, Utah –
Kennedy Warren and
Nikki Ball have been recognized by the league, earning All-Big Sky Conference First and Second Team honors, respectively. The Vandals look to Greeley next, for the 2021 Spring Big Sky Conference Volleyball Tournament.
Warren was second in the Big Sky in kills with 235 on the season. She averaged 3.41 per set and hit .245 as a junior. The Weatherford, Texas native earned Player of the Week honors twice this season; once as the Big Sky Offensive Player of the Week and once as the Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week.
In addition to her offensive success, Warren also excelled defensively with 2.04 digs per set and 57 total blocks on the season.
"Kennedy was the most versatile player on our team this spring and she was good in every position we put her in," said Head Coach
Debbie Buchanan. "Her primary position was on the pin, but we had to move her to the middle for a couple of matches due to injuries and she did amazing. She excelled in every role that we asked her to fill as well as taking on more responsibility!"
Ball led the Big Sky in blocks per set with 1.39 on the season. Despite missing six games, Ball was consistently one of the top defenders around the Big Sky. In addition, Ball averaged 2.04 kills per set and hit a team-high .319 on the season.
"Nikki missed the last 6 matches of our season due to an injury," said Buchanan "but I am glad that the coaches still recognized her as being one of the top middles in the conference."
The Vandals finished the season in seventh in the Big Sky standings at 5-9. Idaho gets started in Greeley at the 2021 Spring Big Sky Conference Volleyball Championship on Wednesday at 6 p.m. against Northern Colorado. The Vandals hosted the Bears in a two-game series to close out the regular season a week ago, dropping both contests.
