NOTES

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Idaho football closes out the regular season at Northern Arizona at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 17. The game will be the final regular season game in the Big Sky Conference this season, as Idaho pushes on in the 2021 Spring Season, presented by Famous Idaho Potatoes.

ABOUT IDAHO: The Vandals (2-3, 2-3) lost to No. 9 Eastern Washington, 38-31, last Saturday in Cheney. Zach Borisch stepped in at quarterback and rushed for 205 yards and two touchdowns. The Vandals led by seven entering the fourth quarter but the Eagles bounced back with a pair of touchdown runs by Dennis Merritt to steal the win.

ABOUT NAU: The Lumberjacks (2-2, 2-2) took down Southern Utah last week, 28-20, to move to 2-2 on the year. After trailing 14-0 early the Lumberjacks scored 28 straight to claim the lead they would not relinquish. Keondre Wudtee earned ROOT Sports Offensive Player of the Week honors after going 23-of-35 for 289 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed for 38 yards and two scores.

BORISCH GOES OFF: Sophomore running back/special teamer Zach Borisch stepped in as quarterback on Saturday at Eastern Washington, with the rest of quarterback room out. He rushed 33 times for 205 yards, both the 10th most in a single game in program history. His 205 yards were the second most ever by a quarterback at Idaho, behind Willis "Wee Willie" Smith in 1932. Check page eight for more notes on Borisch.

BACK IN FLAGSTAFF: The Vandals return to Flagstaff for the first time since 2019's thrilling overtime victory to close the regular season. Mason Petrino was electric on that day, tying the program record with six touchdown passes and posting the fourth most passing yards (498) in a single game in program history. He picked up 563 yards of total offense, the most by an FCS student-athlete in 2019. Jeff Cotton also had an incredible day as he set a Vandal record with 18 receptions.

ENDING STRONG: Idaho has performed well in the final week of the season. Over the last five years, Idaho is 4-1 in season-finale games, including winning the 2016 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl. The one loss during that stretch came in 2018, at Florida.
