Four Earn Big Sky Awards

FARMINGTON, Utah – Four Vandals earned postseason honors as announced by the Big Sky Conference on Tuesday afternoon. Myah Merino was named the Co-Offensive MVP and earned a place on the First Team alongside Kaysie Bruce. Taylor Brust was named to the Second Team, while Margo Schoesler garnered Honorable Mention.

MYAH MERINO
Merino is a senior from San Marcos, California. This season she has four goals which is tied for the team lead and tied for fourth in the conference. She leads the Big Sky in shots with 30 and she has also chipped in one assist this season. One of her goals is a game winner, an 89th minute goal against Sacramento State to seal a 2-1 win.

Merino was named the Big Sky Co-Offensive MVP alongside Madison Montgomery of Northern Arizona. She also earned First Team honors following the 2018 season. Merino currently sits at 14 career goals, putting her seventh on the Vandals all-time scoring list.

KAYSIE BRUCE
Bruce hails from Gig Harbor, Washington. She is tied with Merino for the team lead in goals, with four, which also puts her in a tie for fourth conference wide. She is one of seven players in the conference who have at least two game winning goals. She scored all four goals against Portland State, including a hat trick in the second of two 5-0 wins. For her performance against the Vikings, Bruce was named the Big Sky Offensive Player of the Week. Bruce's honor is the first all-conference appearance of her career.

TAYLOR BRUST
Brust is a graduate student from Oceanside, California. She was a stalwart of the Vandals' defense, playing every minute of the season. She anchored a back line which tallied four clean sheets and chipped in an assist. Her 10 shots are third on the team. Brust is an all-conference honoree for the second consecutive year after earning First Team accolades following the 2019 season.

MARGO SCHOESLER
Schoesler is a native of Spokane, Washington, and is in her first year as a Vandal. She was a vital presence in the midfield for the Vandals this season. The freshman scored two goals on the year including one game winner.
The Vandals earned the No. 2 seed in the Northwest Division and will play Northern Arizona on Thursday, April 15, in the Big Sky Championship Semifinals.
