Bozeman, Mont. – The University of Idaho women's tennis team defeated the Montana State Bobcats for their second consecutive win. Marta Magalhaes scored the fourth a final point for the Vandals, clinching the 4-3 win.

To start the match the Vandals took a 1-0 lead, winning all three doubles matches.

Melissa Huchet and Katherine Jhang defeated Laura Mary and Mirte Van Baelen, 6-0 in the No. 1 spot for the first doubles win of the match.

Laura Spataro and Maggie Chen followed up the No. 1 doubles win with a 6-3 win in the No. 2 spot, clinching the doubles point.

In addition, Magalhaes and Saffron Dowse won 7-5 in the No. 3 spot.

In singles play the Bobcats quickly tied the match 1-1 with a win in the No. 3 spot.

A win for Spataro in No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-3, put the Vandals up 2-1 overall.

The match continued as a back-and-forth affair as the Bobcats tied the match 2-2 after a win at No. 1 singles.

Chen defeated Enni Zander in the No. 4 spot, giving Idaho a 3-2 lead, before Montana State tied the match 3-3 after winning No. 6 singles.

With the match tied 3-3 Magalhaes defeated JJ Chen, 6-0, 7-6 (8-6) in No. 5 singles, clinching the match win for Idaho.
 
"Another tough match. I'm glad we were able to pull it out," said Head Coach Babar Akbar. "The seniors really stepped up in singles and in doubles. I think it was a good send off for the three seniors. Proud of them for leading from the beginning. Montana State played really well and kept fighting us. Like every other conference match this one could have gone either way. Just happy to have finished with a win."
