MOSCOW, Idaho – After an outstanding Spring season, freshman
Jose Suryadinata has been honored as the Big Sky Freshman of the Year. In addition, Suryadinata has been named to the First Team All-Big Sky alongside fellow Vandals
Sean Mullan and
Colt Sherrell.
"Extremely proud of all our Vandals during this trying and rollercoaster season," said head coach
David Nuhn. "Jose is a phenomenal talent and works hard for the accolades he receives. I'm happy for him to be recognized with Freshman of the Year.
"Sean, Colt and Jose have proven themselves worthy all season to be considered the best of the best in our conference, a conference with many talented teams. Again I'm happy that their efforts in practice and performance in tournaments is shown with this first team selection."
It did not take long for Suryadinata to start his collegiate campaign for the Vandals, finishing in the top-3 in his first tournament at the Nick Watney Invitational. This opening performance earned him the Big Sky Golfer of the Week in early February. The freshman's best performance in the spring came at the El Macero Classic, where his season best 5-under, 209 lead him to a 4th place finish in a competitive field.
Graduate student
Sean Mullan also had an impressive first season with the Vandals, only finishing outside the top-25 twice in the Spring. Mullan's best performance came at the Joust at Goose Creek, where he led the Vandals to a 3rd place finish with a 1-under, 215 total score. In just his second tournament with the Vandals, Mullan place in a tie for 4th.
After a season cut short in 2020, junior
Colt Sherrell returned to action for the Vandals and put together a strong season. Playing in four of the five Spring tournaments, Sherrell's best finish came at the Joust at Goose Creek, where he claimed the sole possession of 10th place with a score of 8-over, 218.
