MOSCOW, Idaho – The Vandal track and field teams are set to host the Idaho Invitational on Saturday, April 24. The meet is the lone home event for the squad this season. The first events will begin at 9:30 a.m.
As the season reaches the home stretch, many Vandals are positioned in a good spot on the performance lists.
Caleb Hagan has the top times in the Big Sky this year in both the 100 and 200.
Jurrian Hering is also top-8 in the conference in the 100, sitting eighth. In the 400,
Spencer Barrera has the best time in the league, and Hagan is eighth. Meanwhile,
Lorenz Herrmann and
Shea Mattson are third and seventh, respectively in the 800. Three Vandals are top-8 in both the 110m hurdles and the 400m hurdles.
On the field side of things for the Vandal men,
Joseph Ruddell has the second-best mark in the high jump.
Zachary Nunis sits second on the performance list in the long jump and fourth in the triple jump, while
Britt Ipsen is eighth in the long jump this year. In the shot put,
Zack Short has the second-best mark in the Big Sky, while
Grady Leonard is fifth. In the hammer, Leonard is second and
Cullen Williams is fourth.
The Vandal women are also poised for big things and will look to improve at the Idaho Invite.
Camryn Crouch sits fourth on the Big Sky performance list in the 400 and fifth in the 200.
Olivia Martin is eight in the 100m.
Malaina Thacker has the second best 3k steeplechase time, the third best time in the conference in the 1500 this year and the sixth best 800 time. Her steeplechase time is also 34th nationally.
Anna Pecha is eighth in the 800.
Nell Baker sits fifth in the 10k. Prabhasha Wickramaraachchi sits fourth in the Big Sky in the 400m hurdles.
In the triple jump,
Tayler LyDay has recorded the second-best mark in the conference, while
Julia Hayes is sixth in the high jump.
Hannah Ringel sits second on the performance list for the shot put.
This will be the first home outdoor meet for the Vandals since Idaho hosted the Big Sky Championships in 2018. Following the meet, the Vandals will compete next weekend in Spokane before the Big Sky Championships which will be May 12-15.
