Stat Check – Vandals Among the Big Sky’s Best

MOSCOW, Idaho – Through four games several Vandals rank among the best in the Big Sky.

Cade Coffey – The senior from Rathdrum had another outstanding performance over the weekend. He punted eight times, averaging 50.2 yards per attempt. It was the fifth time in his career, and second time in three games this season, that Coffey punted at least six times with an average over 50 yards. His long on the day went 66 yards, his best of the season.

Coffey was not done there. He was called on for field goals three times, draining all three. His first went 37 yards, and his final was a chip-shot from 21-yards out. Coffey's second field goal tied his career-long at 46 yards, and brought the Vandals to within one score heading into the break.

He leads the Big Sky with 1.67 field goals per game, despite not being the field goal kicker in the season-opener. Coffey is second in the big Sky in scoring, averaging 7.7 points per game. His net punting average of 47.6 yards is second, behind UC Davis' Daniel Whelan (47.9 yards per punt).

Hayden Hatten – Hatten had another solid game receiving. He caught nine passes for 95 yards and a touchdown against the Bengals. Hatten leads the Big Sky with 8.8 receptions per game and is third with 115.5 receiving yards per game. He is also fourth in the conference in all purpose yards, also with 115.5 per game.

DefenseTre Walker leads the conference with 15.7 tackles per game, more than four tackles per game better than Cal Poly's Matt Shotwell in second. Christian Elliss and Fa'Avae Fa'Avae also rank in the top-10. Elliss's 9.2 tackles per game are sixth best in the league, while Fa'Avae's 9.0 per game are seventh best.

Jaxon Woodward – Woodward picked up his second interception of the season on Saturday. He is one of five Big Sky student-athletes with multiple interceptions this season.

The Vandals have been the best in the Big Sky in the red zone, both offensively and defensively. In 14 trips to the red zone this season, the Vandals have scored 14 times (10 touchdowns, four field goals). The Vandal defense has also been tremendous in the red zone, holding opponents to just nine scores in 14 trips.
