USTFCCCA RELEASE
NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Idaho track and field team had a huge year in the classroom, earning United States Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team Awards on both the men's and women's sides. Individually, nine men and three women were named All-Academic athletes.
The women posted the second highest grade point average in the nation, finishing with a cumulative GPA of 3.789. The men also had an outstanding year with a cumulative GPA of 3.563, the sixth highest nationally.
On the men's side, nine Vandals were named All-Academic Athletes.
Deyondre Davis,
Ben Doucette,
Caleb Hagan,
Lorenz Herrmann,
Grady Leonard,
Zachary Nunis,
Joseph Ruddell,
Zack Short, and
Tim Stevens all earned the accolade. Meanwhile,
Henrike Fiedler,
Hannah Ringel, and
Malaina Thacker are All-Academic Athletes on the women's side.
The Big Sky was represented by seven team on the men's side and eight teams on the women's side. Both Vandal teams posted the highest GPA in the conference.
To qualify for the team award, programs must finish the most recent grading period with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00. Individuals must have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and have participating in any round of the NCAA Division I Outdoor Championships or finished the indoor season ranked in the top 96 in any event.
