Women's Basketball Notebook - Weber State, Idaho State

Vandals hosts Weber State and Idaho State

MOSCOW, Idaho --The Vandals will play three games in five days this weekend. Idaho will host Weber State (1/13) and Idaho State (1/15) this weekend at ICCU Arena. The Vandals will have a short turnaround as they travel to Bozeman, Mont. to face Montana State on Monday Jan. 17 to makeup a game that was originally scheduled for Jan 6 but was postponed due to COVID precautions. THE VANDALS
Idaho snapped a 10-game losing streak with a big 63-42 win over Eastern Washington. The Vandals held EWU to 20 points below their season average. The Vandals made 11 3-point field goals in the win The defense held EWU to just 23.5 percent shooting, forced 17 turnovers and had six blocks. On the season, The Vandals are scoring 61. 9 points a game and are shooting 33.9 percent from the field. Tiana Johnson is leading the Vandal perimeter offense and is second in the Big Sky with a 3-point percentage of 41.9. Louise Forsyth leads the team with 12 points a game. Sydney Gandy is averaging 10.3 points per game. Beyonce Bea and Allison Kirby both average over seven rebounds per contest.

WEBER STATE
The Wildcats are an even .500 on the season sitting at 7-7 and are 3-2 in conference play. They are shooting 40.2 percent from the field and averaging 63.6 points a game.  Daryn Hickok leads the team with 13.6 points a game and is shooting 50.4 percent from the field. Jadyn Matthews is leading the team with 9.0 rebounds a game. She is shooting the ball at a 43.4 percent clip averaging 12.9 points a game. Emma Torbert averages 11.6 points a game and leads the team with 24 blocks.

IDAHO STATE
The Bengals are 8-8 and 4-1 in conference on the season. ISU is shooting 40 percent from the field and averaging 62.6 points a game. The Bengals are shooting just 27.5 percent from distance. Tomekia Whitman is averaging 8.9 points, 6.4 rebounds, 3.2 steals and 2.7 assists a game. Estefania Ors has been named ROAR Organic Big Sky Conference player of the weeks two in back-to-back weeks. She leads the team with 13.4 points and game and is shooting 48 percent from the field.

MONTANA STATE
The Bobcats are 7-8 and 2-2 (BSC) on the season. MSU is averaging 65.8 points a game and is shooting 36.4 percent from the floor as a team. Darian White leads the team with 16.2 points, 5.4 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 2.9 steals a game.  Kola Bad Bear is shooting at a 45.2 percent clip and is averaging 9.9 points a game.

THE 700 CLUB
With the Win over Eastern Washington the Vandals notched their 700th win. In 46 years of womens hoops at U Idaho, the Vandals have an all-time record of 700-646 (.520 win%)
