MOSCOW, Idaho – The Idaho Vandals (3-10, 2-2) defense was on display at ICCU Arena Thursday Night, holding the Weber State Wildcats (7-8, 3-3) to just 41 points in an convincing 62-41 win in front of the home faithful.
For the second-straight game the Vandals held their opponent to their season low offensive output. Idaho forced 18 Weber State turnovers and held the Wildcats to just 12 made field goals (12-49).
"I thought our overall defensive intensity was good, we came out focused." head coach
Jon Newlee said. "We can build on that great defensive effort and rebounding effort."
Idaho won out rebounded Weber State including pulling down nine offensive boards.
The Vandals struggled from 3-point range, connecting of just seven of 33 attempts from distance. However the pounded the ball inside, outscoring the Wildcats 36-12 in the paint.
"We tried to do a little too much offensively," Newlee said. "But we fought through it and got some big shots when we needed them."
The Vandals shot 39.1 percent from the field and had 17 assists on 27 made field goals.
Beyonce Bea led the all-around offensive attack for the Vandals with 12 points and nine rebounds.
Allison Kirby scored 10 points, dished out seven dimes and pulled down five rebounds.
Sydney Gandy scored 10 points.
Tiana Johnson pulled down nine boards and added seven points. And
Louise Forsyth scored eight points and
Ashlyn Wallace grabbed five rebounds and had four steals off the bench.

The Vandals will host rival Idaho State on Jan. 15 in the ICCU Battle of the Domes. Tip-off from ICCU Arena is set for 2 p.m.
