MOSCOW, IDAHO – The Vandal track and field team continued a dominant start to the indoor track and field season with 16 first-place finishes at the Idaho Team Challenge inside the Kibbie Dome on Saturday.
Grady Leonard once again had a great day in the throws, claiming wins in both the weight throw (20.03 meters) and the shot put (17.58).
Cullen Williams took second the weight throw (18.79 meters) and
Noah Culbertson placed third in the shot put with a throw of 16.59 meters.
Hannah Ringel won the women's shot put for the second-straight weekend with a throw of 14.73 meters.
The Vandals dominated both the men's and women's 800 meters races.
Zac Bright led the Vandal men with a time of 1:54 to win the race.
Jenner Higgins took second in 1:55.28,
Shea Mattson finished third in 1:56.30 and
Gage Zanette placed fourth with a time of 1:56.43.
In the women's race,
Anna Pecha led the Vandals to victory with a time of 2:16.23.
Leah Holmgren took second in 2:16.92,
Elise Abbott finished third in 2:17.48 and
Erica Pecha placed fifth with a time of 2:19.47.
Deyondre Davis,
Lorenz Herrmann,
Spencer Barrera and
Alex Ayers won the men's 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:16.81seconds which was best time in the Big Sky Conference this season by over four seconds.
Franziska Stohr,
Camryn Crouch,
Prabhasha Wickramaraachchi, and
Olivia Martin led the Vandal women to a win the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:52.15.
Crouch also won the women's 200 meters with a time of 24.87 with teammate Franziska Stohr just behind with a time of 25.19 to finish second. Crouch continued her good meet with a third-place finish in the women's 60-meter dash (7.72).
Mika Brouwer took second in the men's 200 meters with a time of 21.68 seconds.
The Vandal men had three of the top four spots in the 60-meter dash.
Jurrian Hering placed second in 6.75 seconds.
Caleb Hagan finished third (6.78) and
Khalil Forehand took fourth with a time of 6.98 seconds.
In the hurdles,
Deyondre Davis won with a time of 8.19 seconds and
Landon Peterson finished second with a time of8.41 seconds. In the women's 60-meter hurdles
Henrike Fiedler took second with a time of 9.04 seconds.
In the women's 400 meters,
Olivia Martin won with a time of 57.49 seconds. In the men's race,
Spencer Barrera took second with a time of 47.84 seconds.
Kelsey Swenson won the women's mile with a time of 4:59.69 and
Nathalia Campos took second in 5:02.45.
Lorenz Herrmann won the men's mile with a time of 4:07.44 and
Tim Stevens took third with a run of 4:12.89.
Participating in her first meet of the season
Tayler LyDay won the women's triple jump with a jump of 11.93 meters.
Airiana Dargan took second (11.72 meters). Greta Kuhne placed third (11.29 meters),
Arianna Bush took fifth (10.96 meters) and
Kalani Hardyway finished sixth with a jump of 10.85 meters.
Joseph Ruddell won the men's high jump with a mark of 2.07 meters.
Dante Cox took third with a mark of 1.97 meters.
Julia Hayes won the women's high jump with a jump of 1.58 meters and
Ellie Grant took third with a mark of 1.53 meters.
Henrike Fiedler won the women's long jump with a leap of 5.85 meters.
Airiana Dargan took second with a jump of 5.58 meters.
Justyn Rogers took second in the men's long jump with a jump of 6.95 meters.
Lachlan Smith took fourth with a jump of 6.48 meters.
Nell Baker took second in the women's 3000 meters with a time of 10:09.62 and
Jolene Whiteley took fourth in 10:18.36.
Gabriel Dinnel took second in the men's 3000 meters with a time of 8:35.74.
The Vandals will be back in action next weekend when they travel to Spokane, Wash. To participate in the Washington State Invitational at The Podium.
