SEATTLE — Sophomore
Alejandro Salvador Civera claimed a win in singles, but Idaho (0-3) was unable to hold back the Huskies (6-0) as the Vandals fell to Washington, 6-1 on Sunday.
"Washington is a great team," head coach
Daniel Hangstefer. "I felt that overall we responded much better after yesterday's loss. It was great to see the guys compete for every point, and also to see Alejandro (Salvador) pull out a win in his match. We are moving in the right direction."
Salvador clinched his second win of the weekend in singles action by outlasting Washington's Han-Chih Lin in three sets from the No. 4 position for the Vandals. The Spaniard picked up the victory in similar style to his win over Utah State's Javier Ruiz the day before, battling back from an opening set loss to earn the victory. On Sunday, Salvador fell 6-4 in set one against Lin before winning the next two sets (6-2, 10-7).
Washington took an early lead in doubles play after winning all three matches.
Salvador claimed the only singles win for Idaho in the match as the Huskies captured the remaining five contests to earn the victory, 6-1.
NEXT UP: The Vandals continue on the road next week, traveling to Colorado Springs for a pair of dual meets against Air Force (Feb. 4 at 9 a.m. PT) and Omaha (Feb. 5 at 4 p.m. PT).
