MOSCOW, Idaho – Gevani McCoy was 22-27 for 298 yards and four touchdowns as he led the Vandals to a 55-35 win over Northern Colorado Saturday at the Kibbie Dome.
For his efforts, he was named the Stats Perform FedEx Ground National Freshman Player of the Week.
He set career mark in passing yards, passing touchdowns and total offensive yards. He also added 19 yards rushing and did not give up a single sack despite playing behind an offensive line with two players missing because of injuries.
Over the last two weeks, he has a completion percentage of 85.1% (40-47) and has thrown for 482 yards, five touchdowns and zero interceptions. He now has a season completion percentage of 72.8% (91-125) which is third in the FCS and first in the Big Sky. That percentage includes games against two power-five schools.
The Vandals have the bye week before heading to Missoula to battle for the Little Brown Stein, Saturday, Sept. 15 at 12 p.m. PT.
