Men’s Basketball Blows Past Walla Walla in Home Opener

MOSCOW, Idaho – Six Vandals scored in double figures, while Idaho (1-1) posted the second most points in school history to help defeat Walla Walla University, 122-48 on Thursday night in the 2022-23 home opener at ICCU Arena. Terren Frank led the way with a career-high 24 points.

An all-around team performance was put together by the Vandals in their first home game, as all 10 players that checked into the game tallied a point. Frank shot an efficient 9-of-13 from the field and recorded five rebounds, five steals and four assists. Isaac Jones posted his first career double-double as a Vandal with 21 points and 10 boards.

Newcomer Dominique Ford did a little bit of everything off the bench, recording 17 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Nigel Burris, Yusef Salih and Michael Hanshaw all finished in double figures.

Idaho jumped out to a quick 11-2 lead to start play and later used a 19-0 run at the 16:34 mark in the opening half to build a 33-10 advantage. The Vandals would not look back, building a 74-point lead when the final horn sounded.

As a team, the Vandals shot 63.9 percent (46-of-72) from the field, including a 74.3 percent clip in the first half. Behind the arc also worked for Idaho, shooting 56 percent on 14 for 25 from three.

Idaho's point guard Divant'e Moffitt facilitated the team's success on the offensive end with a game-high 10 assists. The fifth-year senior also provided nine points.

The 122 points by the Vandals are the second most in a game in program history - five points short of tying the record set back on Dec. 18, 2015 against New Hope (127).

Up next, the Vandals travel to face Nebraska Omaha on Sunday, Nov. 13.
