The Idaho men's basketball team (1-1) heads out on the road to face its second Summit League opponent in Nebraska Omaha (0-2) on Sunday, Nov. 13 inside Baxter Arena. The game is scheduled to tip off at 12:05 p.m. Pacific.

Idaho returns to the floor after earning their first win of the season against Walla Walla, 122-48. Six Vandals recorded double-digit scoring efforts, including a team-high 24 points from forward Terren Frank. The 6-8 redshirt sophomore from Los Angeles shot an efficient 9-of-13 from the field and recorded five rebounds, five steals and four assists. Front-court teammate Isaac Jones posted his first career double-double as a Vandal with 21 points and 10 boards.
Coming off the bench, sophomore Dominique Ford did a little bit of everything with 17 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Nigel Burris (13), Yusef Salih (12) and
Michael Hanshaw (10) all finished in double figures.
Idaho's 122-point performance against Walla Walla was the second most points scored by an Idaho team in school history - five points shy of tying the record set back on Dec. 18, 2015, against New Hope (127). The Vandals' 74-point margin of victory also ranks second highest in program history behind a 111-34 (77 points) win over Norwest College back on 11/30/1987.
The Series
- Idaho will meet Omaha for the second time in school history. The two programs last met in the 2018-19 season, where the Mavericks secured an 89-80 victory over Idaho in Moscow.
Homecoming
- Idaho head coach Zac Claus returns to his home state where it all started. The fourth-year head coach grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska - just 59 miles southwest of where the Vandals will play on Sunday afternoon.
- Claus began his collegiate playing career at Creighton University and the University of Nebraska before playing two seasons at Eastern Washington. He ultimately returned to Lincoln, Nebraska to start his coaching tenure at Nebraska Wesleyan in 1998-99.
Notables
- Guard Divant'e Moffitt reached double-digit assists (10) for the first time in his five-year career, becoming the first Vandal to post 10 or more assists in a single game since Mike Scott (1/17/15).
- Isaac Jones leads Idaho in scoring through two games, averaging 18 points on 72.7 percent from the field. The Spanaway, Wash. native is also first on the team in rebounds with 7.5 per game. Terren Frank follows with 17.5 points per game average, shooting 52 percent.
- Fourth-year head coach Zac Claus returns five players from last season, including two starters that combined to start in 40 games. Claus and his staff brought on board 10 newcomers, that include six transfers and four freshmen.
- Idaho posted a 9-22 overall record and 6-14 conference mark last season. The Vandals 2021-22 season was highlighted by a win over Summit League Champions South Dakota State and a three-game win streak over Weber State, Montana and Eastern Washington.The Silver and Gold finished off the season tied for eighth in the Big Sky.
- Senior guard Rashad Smith begins his second season in Moscow after averaging 10.1 points and 5.1 rebounds per game in 2021-22. Smith formed into one of the best sharpshooters in the conference, as he shot an impressive 44.9% against NCAA D1 opponents on 127 three-point attempts and 46.9% on 96 threes versus conference foes.
- Sophomore guard Yusef Salih is back after appearing in 29 contests and starting in 14 as a true freshman. The Gainesville, Va. native posted 6.1 points per game, averaged 38.5 percent from three and knocked down 42 shots from behind the arc - third most in program history by a true freshman.
- Idaho reloaded in the transfer portal at the post position, adding forward/center Isaac Jones (Wenatchee Valley College) and forwards Terren Frank (Vanderbilt) and John Harge (Northeastern Oklahoma A&M).
- Jones put together a monster season at WVC in 2021-22, leading the Northwest Athletic Conference in scoring (25.3 PPG), rebounding (13.2 RPG) and field goal percentage (69.5) to earn NWAC Player of the Year.
- The backcourt features transfer guards Dom Ford (College of Southern Nevada), Divant'e Moffitt (Seattle Pacific) and Trey Smith (San Jose State).
- Moffitt will use his last year of eligibility to play for the Silver and Gold after spending four seasons at SPU, where he earned First Team All-GNAC and averaged the second most points in the league with 19.3 ppg.
- Smith also uses his final year to play in Moscow after spending four years at San Jose State. He started in 22-of-22 contests in 2021-22 for SJSU, averaging 8.8 points per game and 33 percent shooting from three.
- The freshmen class is led by Nigel Burris, a three-star (247 Sports) forward from San Francisco, Calif. Burriss is joined by Mikhail Abdul-Hamid (St. Louis, Mo.) Tyler Halligan (Green, Ohio) and Titus Yearout (Lapwai, Idaho).
- Other returners include Michael Hanshaw (Sr., Moorpark, Calif.), Jack Hatten (R-Fr., Bakersfield, Calif.) and RJ Walker (R-Fr., Decatur, Ill.).
Scouting the Mavericks
- Omaha starts the season 0-2 after losses at Kansas (96-71) and Nebraska (75-61).
- The Mavericks went 5-25 overall in the 2021-22 season and 4-14 in the Summit League. The Mavericks fell in the first round to eventual conference tournament champions South Dakota State.
- Omaha was tabbed ninth in the Summit League Preseason Poll
- The Mavericks return 2022-23 Preseason All-Summit League First Team member Frankie Fidler. Fidler averaged a team-high 12.9 points per game on 48.6 percent from the field and 42.9 percent from behind the arc.
