BERKELEY, Calif. – Four Vandals scored in double figures and Idaho women's basketball shot 44.8% from the field, but Cal outscored the Vandals 20-11 in the third quarter and closed out the 84-71 win Wednesday evening at Haas Pavilion.
The two teams battled back and forth for much of the first half.
Sydney Gandy hit a three-pointer with 3:09 left in the second quarter to tie the game at 34-34. Cal then went on an 11-2 run to build a 45-36 lead before Jordan Allred hit a three-pointer to cut the lead to 45-39 at the half.
The third quarter was all Cal and the Bears built a 65-50 lead. The Vandals outscored 21-19 in the fourth quarter but couldn't get the deficit back to single digits as the Golden Bears cruised to the win.
Beyonce Bea scored a game-high 19 points and a team-high seven rebounds. Gandy hit five threes to score 15 points. Rosa Smith scored 14 points and tallied a game-high eight assists. Allred added 10 points.
The loss drops Idaho to 0-2 on the season with both game coming against Pac-12 teams.
