Vandals Roll to ICCU Battle of the Domes Win 38-7

 POCATELLO, Idaho – Roshaun Johnson rushed for three touchdowns, the Idaho defense forced four turnovers, including a Marcus Harris pick-six, and Idaho topped Idaho State 38-7 to claim the ICCU Battle of the Domes trophy for the second consecutive year.
 
The Vandals, behind starting true freshman quarterback Jack Layne, racked up 467 yards of offense, including a nine-play 52-yard opening drive that culminated in a two-yard rushing touchdown by Johnson.
 
The Bengals scored on their next drive, a 49-yard double reverse pass from Tyler Vander Waal to Benjamin Omayebu to even the game at 7-7. That would be the last score of the game for the Bengals.
 
Johnson added a four-yard touchdown to put the Vandals up 14-7. Before Marcus Harris picked a Vander Waal pass off and returned it 56 yards for the touchdown to put Idaho up 21-7. The Vandals added a field goal before the break.
 
Idaho forced a Bengal turnover on the Vandal one-yard line early in the third quarter and started a 99-yard drive that was capped with a one-yard Johnson touchdown.
 
Hayden Hatten broke the single season receiving touchdown record with a score early in the fourth quarter, putting him at 15 for the season and breaking Jerry Hendren's record from 1968.
 
The Vandals milked away the clock and cruised for the 38-7 win.
 
Idaho racked up 467 yards of offense with 212 yards on the ground and 255 yards passing. Hayden Hatten caught nine passes for a career-high 158 yards and Anthony Woods ran the ball 16 times for 122 yards.
 
Layne was 18-29 for 255 yards a touchdown and an interception.
 
Harris, Murvin Kenion III and true freshman Ormanie Arnold each had interceptions. The Vandal defense held ISU to 311 yards, including just 121 yards through the air.
 
Idaho closes the season with a 7-4 record, hitting the all-important seven-win mark for FCS playoff consideration. The Vandals find out their fate Sunday at
