MOSCOW, Idaho -- The University of Idaho Track & Field/Cross Country program is excited to announce the commitment of Lydia Nance for the fall of 2023. Nance is a four-time state champion between cross country and track and field at Boise Senior High School and looks to add to her title collection this spring.
Nance's freshmen season was limited due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but she came back strong for the 2021 campaign in which she qualified for the 800 meter and 200 meters at the Idaho State Championship meet, a double not often seen.
It was during the 2021 season Nance ran her best race in both distances; the 200 meters in 26.4" and the 800 meters in 2:15.37". This time in the 800 meters was set at the state championship and a seventh-place finish.
This past spring track and field season was a showcase of ability and range for Nance. Running events from 200 meters to 3200 meters, she showed how dynamic and talented she has become. Nance set new personal bests in the 400 meters at 57.29", 5:10.33" in the 1500 meters, and 11:35.13" in the 3200 meters.
Nance continued to excel in cross country this past fall, helping lead Boise Senior High to another cross-country state championship. Lydia ran her fastest 5K race to date at the state meet in 18:10.56" to finish ninth and the team won with 54 points.
