MOSCOW, Idaho -- The University of Idaho Track & Field/Cross Country program is excited to announce the signing of Dylan Rehder, a Moscow native, to be the next future Vandal.
Having just joined the sport in 2021, Rehder is still relatively new to track and field. Despite limited races as a sophomore due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, he qualified for the Idaho State Championships in the 100-meter sprint event where he finished in 13th place in the preliminary round.
The 2022 season was a breakout year for Rehder and he established himself as one of the top sprinters in the area. He held top times in the Inland Empire League in the 100 meters, 200 meters, and 400 meters which became his best event. He again made the state championship meet, this time in the 200-meter and 400-meter dashes. Rehder ran his personal best in both at 22.89" and 48.89", respectively, earning a third-place finish in the quarter-mile event. This time broke the previous 4A state meet record at Donna Larsen Park in Boise.
Along with qualifying in open events, Rehder anchored the 4x400-meter relay to a runner-up finish. Along with track and field, he has been a member of the Moscow High varsity basketball team since his sophomore year and currently volunteers his free time at the Moscow food bank.
"Dylan is a talented sprinter from right here in Moscow," Idaho Director of Track & Field/Cross Country
Tim Cawley said. "With him getting it done in the classroom too, he is a great fit for the Vandal Family."
