MOSCOW, Idaho – Three Vandals were honored in the annual Stats Perform FCS All-America and Freshmen teams.
Sophomore Wide Receiver
Hayden Hatten again earned First-Team All-American honors. He led the FCS and broke the University of Idaho program record with 16 receiving touchdowns during the 2022 season and racked up 1,209 receiving yards despite missing a game.
He had seven games with more than 100 yards receiving and tied a school record with four touchdowns against Eastern Washington. He had nine catches for 209 yards in Idaho's first-round playoff game against Southeastern Louisiana.
The award is the fifth All-American award for Hatten after earning First-Team All-American honors and Sophomore All-American honors from Hero Sports. He was also named a First-Team AP All-American. Monday he was named an All-American by FCS Podcast Bluebloods and to the prestigious FCS Athletic Directors Association All-America team.
Freshman quarterback
Gevani McCoy and tackle
Ayden Knapik were named to the All-Freshman team.
McCoy was named the Jerry Rice Award Winner, the award for the FCS national freshman of the year. He threw for 27 touchdowns and 2,721 yards despite missing a game against Idaho State. He broke the Idaho single-season completion percentage record going 203-297 for 68.4%.
Knapik played in eight games as the starting right tackle. He made his first start against Drake and never gave up the starting job. He helped the Vandals find consistency on the line and showed improvement throughout the season in every aspect of his game. He is expected to be an anchor on the line throughout the rest of his time in Moscow.
