OGDEN, Utah – Five Vandals scored in double figures as Idaho (6-15, 5-7) rallied to defeat Weber State (8-16, 4-11) 82-73 Saturday afternoon at the Dee Events Center.
The Vandals scored 29 points in the fourth quarter to pull away from Weber State to snap a brief two game skid.
The Vandals started out hot, shooting 61.5 percent from the field to build a 21-9 lead with a 1:52 left in the first quarter. Weber State then closed the quarter on a 7-3 run to trim the Vandal lead to 24-16.
The run continued for the Wildcats as they trimmed the lead to just two points with 7:21 left in the second quarter. Idaho responded with an 11-2 run of their own to build an 11-point lead with 3:51 left in the half. Weber State was able to chip away to only trail by five at the half.
The Wildcats continued the run to take their first lead of the game at the seven-minute mark of the third quarter, eventually building a 6-point advantage.
Weber State led 54-53 after 30 minutes of play and it looked like the teams were in for a battle for the final ten minutes.
However, the Vandals had other ideas, Idaho hit four straight 3-point field goals to open the fourth quarter to take the lead for good. The Vandals shot 66.7 percent in the fourth and were clutch from the free-throw line down the stretch, making 13 of 15 from the charity stripe to close out the game and sweep the season series.
The Vandals shot 51.1 percent for the game and 47.6 percent from distance.
Louise Forsyth led the Vandals with 17 points on five of six shooting.
Tiana Johnson knocked down four triples to score 16 points. She also had five rebounds.
Beyonce Bea scored 12 points and seven rebounds.
Sydney Gandy scored 13 points and had five dimes.
Paris Atchley added 10 points.
The Vandals will travel to Missoula, Mont. to face Montana on Feb. 17 at 6 p.m.
