MOSCOW, Idaho – The Idaho swim and dive team finished out their final regular-season meet of the year, scoring 284 points while College of Idaho tallied 190 points and Ottawa University scored 38 over the two-day event on Friday and Saturday at the UI Swim Center.
Idaho earned victories in 17 swimming and diving events throughout the weekend, including three individual wins from
Kaling Phung and two individual victories by
Morgan Votava and
Haylee Buyers.
Phung clocked in first-place times in the 400-yard individual medley (4:48.18), 200-yard breaststroke (2:30.62) and the 50-yard freestyle (24.10). Votava swam her way to top spots in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 53.28 and in the 100-yard backstroke (58.71). H. Buyers was victorious in the 200-yard individual medley (2:14.76) and 200-yard freestyle (1:56.71).
The relay teams for Idaho won four events in the tri-meet, including in the 400-yard medley (3:52.74), 200-yard freestyle (1:37.94), 200-yard medley (1:47.58) and the 400-yard freestyle (3:35.12).
Heather Hopkins and
Emily Mack led Idaho in diving with the pair each earning an individual victory in their respective events. Hopkins posted a 287.25 score in 1-meter diving while Mack tallied a score of 330.50 in the 3-meter.
Idaho will take next week off to prepare for the Western Athletic Conference Championships in Houston. The four-day event will start Feb. 23 and go tell Feb. 26.
