Oregon Distance Runner Commits to Idaho

MOSCOW, Idaho - The University of Idaho Track & Field/Cross Country program is thrilled to announce the commitment of Ethan Sturdivant of Sherwood High School, Oregon to the 2022 recruiting class.

Ethan came onto the scene as a freshmen when he placed 6th in the 800 meters at the Oregon 5A/6A State meet, and after a canceled 2020 season due to COVID-19, he returned as a junior and again placed 6th in the 800 meters at the 2021 championship.
Ethan's personal best 800-meter time also came during the 2021 season, clocking a 1:56.72".

This past cross country season saw Ethan reach new heights in the longer distances. He shattered his previous personal best in the 5K by over 30 seconds when he ran 15:39.35" at Newburg in Shorewood.

A talented runner from the cross country course to the track, Ethan's talent stretches from the 400 meters to the 5K. This past spring he anchored the Sherwood 4x400 meter relay at the Oregon State Championships to the school record which qualified for the Outdoor Nationals held in Eugene, Oregon at Hayward Field where the team placed 9th.

"We are excited to add Ethan to the Vandal Family," Director of Track & Field/Cross Country Tim Cawley said. "He's got good range on the track and is an excellent student in the classroom. He will fit in great with the team."
