THE VANDALS
The Vandals wrapped up a perfect five-game homestand with a 64-39 win over Portland State on Monday, Feb. 28. The Vandals will face the Vikings for the second time in three days on Wednesday, March 2 in Portland before wrapping up the season in Flagstaff on March 4 against Northern Arizona. The games will be streamed live on ESPN+.Â
The Vandals are 11-16 and 10-8 on the season. They are currently in a three-way tie for fifth in the Big Sky with two games left in the 2021-22 season. The Vandals will close out the regular-season schedule on the road against Portland State and Northern Arizona as they fight to secure a top-five finish to secure a first-round bye in the upcoming conference tournament.Â
Beyonce Bea was named Big Sky Conference Player of the Week. She has recorded seven double-doubles on the season. She has scored in double figures in 17 straight games reaching 20 or more points seven times during that stretch. She is averaging 14.4 points and 8.4 rebounds a game while shooting 43.1 percent from the field.Â
Louise Forsyth scored a career-high 29 points in the 73-76 loss at Montana. For the season, she is shooting 39.6 percent and is averaging 13.1 points a game.
Sydney Gandy tied a season-high 22 points and eight assists against Northern Colorado. She is averaging 10.5 points and 3.5 assists a game.
Allison Kirby is dishing out 3.8 assists a game and is also averaging 1.7 steals a game.
Tiana Johnson is shooting 40 percent from distance and leads the team in three-point field goals made.
PORTLAND STATE
The Vikings 5-21 and 0-18 on the season. They almost upset by league leader Idaho State on Saturday. PSU is averaging 59.8 points a game shooting 36.8 percent from the field. Esmeralda Morales leads the team with 12 points, 3.6 assists, and 2.2 rebounds a game. Jada Lewis is averaging 10.5 and 4.1 rebounds a game.Â
NORTHERN ARIZONA
The Lumberjacks and Vandals are tied for fifth in the conference. NAU is 13-13 overall and is averaging 72.3 points a game while shooting 44.3 percent from the field. Lauren Orndoff leads the team with 11.3 points a game and is shooting at a 45.7 percent clip. Khiarica Rasheed is shooting 46.8 percent and is averaging 11.0 points and 6.4 rebounds a game.Â
