Women's Basketball to Open Big Sky Tournament Against Portland State

BOISE, Idaho - The Vandals enter the Big Sky Conference Tournament as the sixth seed with a 11-9 conference record.  They will face the 11-seed Portland State Vikings Monday, March 7 at 7 p.m.  pacific time in the first round of the tournament. The winner will face 3-seed Southern Utah on Tuesday night. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+. Live Stats can be found here.

THE VANDALS
The Vandals and Vikings will meet for the third time in week. The Vandals won the previous two meetings, 64-39 on Monday, Feb. 28 at ICCU arena and then two days later in Portland 73-68 behind Beyonce Bea's 40 point performance. Idaho has won seven of their last nine games and will play their ninth game in 19 days.  

Beyonce Bea continues to dominate the conference. Winning her second Big Sky player of the week honor in the last three weeks. She has recorded seven double-doubles and has scored in double figures in 19 straight games reaching 20 or more points eight times during that stretch. She is averaging 15.2 points and 8.3 rebounds a game while shooting 44.6 percent from the field. 

Louise Forsyth has come alive in the fourth quarter for the Vandals. During the six game win streak she scored 58 percent of her points and shot 56. 2 percent from the field in the final quarter. For the season, she is shooting 39.5 percent and is averaging 12.9 points a game.

Sydney Gandy tied a season high 22 points at Northern Arizona. She is averaging 10.9 points and 3.3 assists a game. Allison Kirby set a career-high 11 assists last time out against PSU. She is dishing out 4.1 assists a game and is also averaging 1.7 steals a game. Tiana Johnson is shooting 39.2 percent from distance and leads the team in three-point field goals made with Gandy.

PORTLAND STATE
The Vikings 5-23 and 0-20 on the season. PSU is averaging 59.8 points a game shooting 37.2 percent from the field. Esmeralda Morales leads the team with 12.5 points, 3.6 assists and 2.2 rebounds a game. Jada Lewis is averaging 10.2 and 4.0 rebounds a game.
