Match Recap: Women's Tennis |

Women’s Tennis Sweeps Montana, 7-0

LEWISTON, Idaho – Idaho women's tennis finished out the weekend 2-0 in conference play after sweeping Montana, 7-0 on Saturday afternoon at the LCSC Tennis Center.

The Vandals opened the match with all three doubles matches going in favor of Idaho to capture the early 1-0 lead. Saffron Dowse and Andrea Redondo started with a 6-0 sweep at the No. 3 position. Ines Oliveira and Ke Syuan Jhang continued to be a dominant pair, winning 6-4 at No. 1, while Melissa Huchet and Jayanne Palma grabbed a 6-4 win to close out doubles play.  

The Silver and Gold continued its dominance in singles action as Idaho won five out of the six matches in straight sets. Dowse got the sweep started at the No. 4 spot, defeating Ivayla Mitkova 7-5, 6-1. Huchet followed at No. 2 with a 6-0, 7-6 win over Lauren Dunlap. Oliveira clinched the match win with a 6-2, 7-6 victory over her opponent to make the score 4-0.

Jhang recorded her fourth singles win by way of straight sets this season with a 7-6 (2), 6-1 victory over Maria Goheen. Nicole Horacek and Palma rounded out the final two singles wins to complete the sweep over the Grizzlies.

NEXT UP: The Vandals return to action in Boise next week for two matches against College of Idaho (Mar. 12 at 4 p.m. PT) and Boise State (Mar. 13 at 2 p.m. PT).
