BOISE, Idaho — Mikey Dixon has been named All-Big Sky Conference Honorable Mention, the BSC announced on Tuesday.
"I'm just excited for Mikey to get recognized by the conference after having such a tremendous year," Head Coach
Zac Claus said. "It is hard for me to imagine a guy that helped carry us from an offensive standpoint with the way he scored the ball - to average 18 a game, to do it in the efficient way he did is just a testament to his work ethic. He has continued to be a treat to coach all year long."
Dixon finished off the regular season averaging 16.9 points per game, good enough for fifth-best in the League. He reached double figures in 26 games this season and scored at least 20 points in 10 games. The New Castle, Del. native delivered two 30-point outings this season, including a double-double (31 points, 10 rebounds) in a win over Weber State at home. In his final regular-season contest, Dixon helped lead Idaho past Northern Arizona (78-69) and surpassed 1500 total points for his career after scoring 27 points on Senior Day.
The senior guard ranked first in free throw percentage at 87.7 percent and held the second-most free throw makes (157) in the Big Sky. His 506 total points this season were fourth amongst conference players.
Montana State's Jubrile Belo was selected as the Most Valuable Player, while both Northern Colorado's Daylen Kountz and Weber State's Koby McEwen were named unanimous First Team All-Big Sky.
The Vandals gear up for the Big Sky Conference tournament tomorrow, as Idaho sets up to face No. 8 Sacramento State in the first round at 8:30 a.m. Pacific Time.
