OGDEN, Utah – Idaho women's tennis team fell to Weber State 5-2 on Friday afternoon at the Edman Tennis Courts.
The shorthanded Vandals slid to 4-9 overall and 2-2 in conference action. The Wildcats moved to 12-8 (6-1 BSC) on the season.
Idaho trailed early on in the match after dropping the doubles point.
Ke Syuan Jhang and
Saffron Dowse teamed up to win 7-5 over Weber State's pair at the No. 1 spot but WSU responded with a 6-2 win at No. 2 and a victory by forfeit to go up 1-0.
Nicole Horacek and Jhang each found success in singles play for Idaho, as both earned wins at their respective positions.
Horacek defeated Sicely Ferreira in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2, in the No. 5 singles spot as the junior moved to a perfect 3-0 in Big Sky action.
Jhang won at the No. 1 position over Megan Davies 6-4, 7-5, moving to 8-3 overall and 4-0 in conference play.
Weber State collected wins in four singles matches to ultimately clinch the match.
NEXT UP: The Vandals will continue action on the road at Northern Arizona on Sunday. The match gets underway at 9 a.m. Pacific Time.
