POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho Men's and Women's Track and Field Teams are set to compete in the Big Sky Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship this weekend on the campus of Idaho State.
The Vandals entered the 2022 outdoor season after an impressive indoor championship performance that saw both teams podium for the first time since returning to the conference. The men finished second and the women took third. The Vandals claimed four individual wins and 13 podium finishes.
The Vandals kept the momentum all outdoor season, setting numerous personal bests including breaking a 40-year-old record.
Lorenz Herrmann broke the 1500-meters record set in 1982 with a time of 3:42.11.
Grady Leonard was named field athlete of the week twice and
Hannah Ringel once.
Spencer Barrera has the second-best time in the Big Sky in the 400 meters with a time of 46.79 seconds.
Herrmann holds the top spot in the 800 meters (1:47.79) and
Zac Bright is third (1:50.13).
Maya Kobylanski is third in the 1500 meters (4:22.73)
Kelsey Swenson is third in the 10,000m (35:30.81).
Deyondre Davis (51.60) and
Alex Ayers (51.66) are sitting second and third in the 400-meter hurdles. Franziska Stoehr is second in the 400-meters hurdles with a time of 1:01.03.
Kobylanski (10:18.81) and
Katja Pattis (10:22.67) are second and third in the 3000 steeplechase.
Both the men's and women's 4x400 relay teams have the third-best times in the Big Sky.
In the field events,
Joseph Ruddell is second in the high jump with a height of 2.13m (6'11.75").
Julia Hayes is third with a height of 1.75m (5'8").
Zachary Nunis is second in the long jump with a jump of 7.66m (25'1.75").
Grady Leonard (18.61m, 61'0.75") and
Hannah Ringel (15.80m, 51'10") are leading the Big Sky in the shot put.
Leonard (65.09m, 213'6") and
Cullen Williams (62.99m, 206'8") are second and third in the hammer throw.
