Vandal Volleyball Announces 2022 Schedule

MOSCOW, Idaho – The Idaho volleyball team and head coach Chris Gonzalez are excited to announce the upcoming 2022 schedule. The new season will feature four non-conference tournaments, 16 Big Sky matchups and eight home games for the Vandals.

The Silver and Gold kick off the regular season with a busy non-conference slate, as they travel to participate in four tournaments before starting Big Sky play. A trip to Ohio will jumpstart the season as Idaho will take on Youngstown State, Valparaiso and Delaware State (Aug. 26-27).

Next, the Vandals will travel to Phoenix to compete in a two-day (Sept. 2-3) tournament against Grand Canyon, Santa Clara and Wyoming.

The Silver and Gold make its next stop in Florida to compete in the Jacksonville tournament against Florida Atlantic, Jacksonville University and Tarleton State University Sept. 9-10.

The squad finishes out non-conference play in Laramie, Wyoming for three matches versus Morehead State, Wyoming and Nicholls State Sept. 16-17.

The Vandals will go up against three non-conference opponents that rank in the RPI top-100 and eight in the top-200. Valparaiso is the highest ranked non-conference opponent for Idaho with a 46 RPI ranking.

Idaho's conference season will get underway at home with a matchup against Sacramento State (Sept. 22) before the squad travels to Missoula to face Montana Sept. 24.

The Vandals return back to the Palouse to enjoy three home dates against Eastern Washington (Oct. 1), in-state rival Idaho State (Oct. 6) and 2021 regular-season champion Weber State (Oct. 8).

After a three game homestand, Idaho will hold a road-heavy stretch over the next month with seven of their next nine matches coming away from Moscow. The Vandals make a quick trip to Cheney to face regional rival EWU (Oct. 15) for the second time in two weeks, before making stops at Northern Colorado (Oct. 20) and Northern Arizona (Oct. 22).

The next week the Vandals will return home for two matches against Montana State (Oct. 27) and Montana (Oct. 29).

Four consecutive road matches and a pair of home games will finish out the regular season for Idaho, beginning with contests at Weber State (Nov. 3) and Idaho State (Nov. 5). Next, the Silver and Gold travel to the west coast for matches versus Portland State and Sacramento State on Nov. 10 and 12, respectively. Idaho hosts its final regular season matches in Moscow against Northern Arizona (Nov. 17) and Northern Colorado on Nov. 19 for Senior Night.

The 2022 Big Sky Conference tournament is set to take place Nov. 24-26, with the top eight teams in the conference making an appearance. The 2021 regular season champion, Weber State will serve as host in Ogden, Utah.
