Vandals Add Top Georgia Distance Runner

MOSCOW, Idaho - The University of Idaho Track & Field/Cross Country program is excited to announce the addition of Miles Ferguson to the 2022 recruiting class.

Miles comes to Moscow from Archer High School in Lawrenceville, Georgia and will add to an exciting distance group.

Miles excelled on the track this spring and on the cross country course last fall. Beginning in September with a runner-up finish at the Gwinnett County Championships, Miles kick-started a great season. He ran his personal best
in the 5000 meter distance at 15:26.39 in October and  followed up that performance with a first place finish at the Region 7A Championships. His final race of the cross country season came at the Eastbay Southern Regional meet where he came in 59th in a highly competitive field.

On the track, Miles set both his 1600 meter and 3200 meter personal bests this season. At the 7A Region Championship he ran 4:28.37 and a runner-up finish in a preview of what was to come at the Georgia State Championships where he ran the 3200 meters in 9:38.91. This race was a three second PR and almost twenty seconds better than his best of his junior year.

Miles has accomplished much off the track. A Dooley Award winner, recipients chosen for their outstanding character, teamwork, and citizenship, Miles has served as a team captain and will graduate with honors and as an AP Scholar.

"We are excited that Miles has chosen the Vandals family as his new home for this coming year," Director of Track & Field /Cross Country Tim Cawley said. "There is a lot of potential and will help the team in the classroom as well."
