Herrmann Earns All-American Honors in Men's 800-Meters

Lorenz finishes 10th overall with a time of 1:47.49

EUGENE, Ore. – Lorenz Herrmann earned second-team All-American honors with a tenth-place finish in the 800-meters at the NCAA National Championships.

Herrmann finished the grueling 800 meters with a time of 1:47.49. to place fifth in his heat. The race started fast, and he found himself stuck behind the pack at the break. He remained patient as the race unfolded and started to pick off competitors in the last 200 meters. Lorenz made a great push down the homestretch but ran out of track and missed qualifying for the finals by .04 seconds.

Herrmann becomes the third All-American in the men's 800 meters in school history joining Leroy Robinson and John Trott who both earned the honor in 1982.

The All-American distinction put a bow on a successful sophomore season for Herrmann, who earlier this season, broke the Idaho record in the 800-meters (1:46.90) and a 40-yeard old record in the 1500-meters with a time of 3:42.11.
