Former Vandal Kinsey Middleton (Gomez) to Run at IAAF World Championships

Middleton will compete for Team Canada in the marathon

MOSCOW, Idaho – Former Vandal Kinsey Middleton (Gomez) will compete at the 2022 IAAF World Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Ore. for Team Canada in the marathon.

Originally from Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Kinsey will be competing for Team Canada, for which she has dual citizenship. The Marathon is set to take place on July 18 at 6:15 a.m.

Kinsey attended Idaho from 2015-16. As a Vandal, she was a Big Sky Conference champion in the indoor 5000-meters, a second-team All-American in the 10,000-meters, having placed 10th at NCAA national championship meet, and was the prestigious NCAA Elite 90 award winner for women's track & field in 2016. She holds the Idaho school record in the 10,000-meters with a time of 33:18.00.

She qualified to represent Canada by winning the Ottawa Marathon on May 29th this year in a personal best time of 2:30:08. She was the first Canadian woman to win the Ottawa Marathon, an IAAF gold label race, in 15 years.

This will be her second IAAF World Championship event, having raced the World Half Marathon Championships in 2018 in Spain for Canada.

She is currently coached by Idaho distance coach Travis Floeck, who also coached her during her time as a Vandal.
