Idaho Track Adds German Hurdler

The University of Idaho Track & Field/Cross Country program is excited to announce the addition of German hurdler Lara Holzhauer to the 2022 recruiting class.

Lara brings championship experience as a 400 meter hurdler. Prior to focusing on the 400 meters and 400 meter hurdles, Lara experienced success as a pentathlete and competed in the German Youth National Championships in
2017. Having competed in events from the 100 meters to the 600 meters shows Lara's range as a sprinter and her value to compete in the sprint and hurdle events.

Lara's personal best in the flat 400 meters came at the 2019 BRIXIA Meeting in Italy, an international competition, where she finished in second place in 56.98. She has competed at the German under-18 and under-20 National Championships in the 400 meter hurdles earning multiple top three finishes and winning the event in 2018 and 2019. Her personal best of 61.75 would have qualified her into the Big Sky Conference 400 meter final.

"We are excited to have Lara join the Vandal family," Director of Track & Field /Cross Country Tim Cawley said. "She will fit in great with the team, as she is good in the classroom and talented on the track."
