The Vandals face San Diego State to wrap up the first weekend of the regular season. Both teams are coming off of season-opening road wins. The match is the first between the two teams in program history. 

ABOUT IDAHO: Idaho is coming off a 2-0 shutout win over UC San Diego in the season opener Thursday. Idaho earned goals from captains Savannah Foster and Maddy Lasher. Freshman German goalkeeper Kira Witte notched a shutout in her first-career game.  

ABOUT SAN DIEGO STATE: SDSU was picked second in the Mountain West and opened the season with a 2-1 win over Nebraska in Lincoln. Sophomore Denise Castro, a returning Second-Team All-Conference honoree, scored both goals in the impressive road win, including the game-winner in the 90th-minute. 

ADDING DEPTH: The Vandals return their top six scorers off of last year's team, including Honorable Mention All-Big Sky honoree Jadyn Hanks (five goals, 11 points) and fifth-year player Savannah  Foster (five goals, three GWG). Six transfers and six freshman have joined the Vandal squad this season, adding depth and talent to an already solid roster.

SUPER SENIOR: Savannah Foster took advantage of her extra season due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. She will be entering her fifth year as a Vandal. She has played in 64 games and made 51 starts, including the last 42 consecutive games. The last game that she didn't start for Idaho was Sept. 8, 2019 against UC Riverside. 

NEW FACES AROUND MOSCOW: Idaho welcomed six transfers to the squad this season. Kyla Tucker (Temple), Makenzie Burks (Western Washington), Kylie Hummel (St. Mary's), Annika Farley (Portland), Sienna Gonzales (SMU) and Jayd Sprague (San Francisco).  

BETWEEN THE POSTS: Freshman goalkeeper Kira Witte opened her career with a shutout win. She faced seven shots and grabbed five saves. The freshman played for Frauen-Bundesliga, including two appearances for the first division team. 

COACHING STAFF: Jeremy Clevenger, the spring 2021 Big Sky Coach of the Year, made some adjustments to his coaching staff this season, veteran assistant coach Sean Mapson was promoted to Associate Head Coach. The Vandals also welcomed in first-year assistant Madison Kroger.
