ST. PAUL, Minn. – Freshman goalkeeper
Kira Witte grabbed five saves and earned her third shutout in just her fourth career game to lead Idaho to a scoreless draw Thursday in tough conditions that bordered on a 100-degree heat index.
Witte faced 17 shots, including 14 in the second half. She made all five of her saves after the break.
The Vandals were aggressive early, leading the shot count and corner kick count in the first half early, but the Tommies evened the shot count with three late in the first half.
The St. Thomas turned into the aggressor in the second half, outshooting the Vandals 14-4, but Witte held strong to confirm the shutout.
Maddy Lasher recorded four of the Vandals seven shots on the day.
The Vandals are now 2-1-1 on the year.
