FARMINGTON, Utah – For the second time this season, Idaho men's basketball junior forward
Isaac Jones was named the Big Sky Conference Men's Basketball Co-Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
Jones delivered an all-around effort on both ends of the floor to earn his second career weekly honor. He shot 72 percent (26-of-36) from the field and averaged 29.5 points per game, 11 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.5 blocks in two games against Sacramento State and Portland State.
Jones posted one of the best single-game performances in Idaho history against Sac State, scoring a career-high 42 points and 12 rebounds. He shot 19-of-26 from the field and also tallied up four assists, four blocks, and three steals. His 42-point effort was the third-most points by a Vandal player in program history and the highest single-game scoring output since 2014 (42 points, Stephen Madison at Utah Valley). Jones' 19 made field goals also ranks second most in program history.
After posting a career performance versus the Hornets, Jones followed it up with 17 points and 10 rebounds in a game against Portland State. His back-to-back double-doubles put him up to seven total on the season, which is the second most in the Big Sky.
Jones is the Big Sky leader in points per game (19.8), field goal percentage (70.6), field goals made (125), blocks (20) and blocks per game (1.25).
The 6-9 forward/center continues to knock down shots at a high rate, as he is shooting the fifth-highest field goal percentage in the nation at 70.6 percent (125-of-177).
The Vandals head to Eastern Washington to continue conference play on Saturday, Jan. 14, at 3:30 p.m.
