Vandals Close Out Successful Weekend at Lauren McCluskey Memorial Open

MOSCOW, Idaho - Idaho thrived on the second day of competition at the Lauren McCluskey Memorial Open. Five Vandals ended the meet with first place finishes in their individual events and 19 individuals had top-five performances. Idaho took second in both 4x400 relays while many put up personal bests. 
 
Annika Jozin started day two off strong with a first-place finish in the women's high jump with a personal best height of 1.69m. 
 
Shortly after, another first-place finish was received by Idaho. Spencer Barrera finished the 400m with a time of 47.22. Vandals went two, three, and four in the women's 400m as Prabhasha Wickramaraachchi ran 56.45 followed by Olivia Martin with 57.51 and Camryn Crouch with 57.58. Zac Bright kept the success rolling earning first in the men's 600m with a personal best time of 1:19.17. 
 
Women's triple jump was successful for the Vandals. Tayler LyDay took first with a mark of 12.01m. Amanda Munoz took the second place spot with a mark of 11.39m. Spots five and six were filled by Kalani Hardyway (11.16m) and Ellie Grant (11.03m).
 
Idaho dominated in the men's 800m run with five in the top-seven spots. Gage Zanette took second with a personal best time of 1:51.14, followed closely by Shea Mattson who took third with a time of 1:54.08 and Ethan Sturdivant who took fourth with a new personal best of 1:54.73. Evan Henkel took sixth at 1:55.58 (PB) and his teammate Luca Wagner placed in seventh with a time of 1:55.77 (PB).
 
Freshmen, Mia Sylvester and Simone Fedel showed out in black and gold and took home new personal bests. Sylvester took third in her first-ever collegiate event in the women's shot put. She threw for a distance of 13.63m. Fedel placed second in the men's triple jump with a mark of 13.80m. 
 
Noah Culbertson competed until the end, earning first place with a distance of 16.79m after getting second at the Cougar Classic last weekend.
 
Hannah Russell and Leah Holmgren took second and fourth in the women's 800m. Russell crossed the line with 2:15.33 on the clock while Holmgren came in at 2:16.33. 
 
Katja Pattis took third in the women's 3000m event with a time and new personal best at 9:40.11. Jurrian Hering also took home third in the men's 60m dash with a time of 6.87. 
 
The Vandals travel to Spokane, WA next weekend to compete at the Inland Northwest Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 28.
